This is a big day – Congratulations to the thousands of people who have started Birthday Wishes through Causes! Together, they have raised over $1 million total for the nonprofits they care most about. Thanks to their dedication and passion, their friends have been eager to donate to their favorite nonprofit as a birthday present to them. When added together, look what a difference individual birthdays can make!
The stories are pouring in from people who have had great experiences with their Birthday Wishes. For example, Charlie McBready raised $2,120 for the Trevor Project without any prior fundraising experience. He was always too busy to go to events or volunteer, but after his successful fundraising experience, he is now working directly with the Trevor Project as an inspired volunteer! He says, “I couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout and the GENEROSITY of my friends. It made birthday shopping easy for them and I have to say I got more donations from people I never would have received a present from to begin with.”
If you are the administrator of a cause, don’t forget to ask your members to start their Birthday Wish for your cause. Go to your “Admin Center” then click on the “Birthday Wish” tab to get a link that is specific to your cause. If your cause members and friends click on this link they automatically will be prompted to create a Birthday Wish that has your cause as the beneficiary! Post announcements, send out emails, and get the word out because Birthday Wish is taking off! If your birthday is coming up and you are not a cause administrator, create a Birthday Wish for your favorite cause by starting here: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/birthdays/new
Great job to everyone who has helped Birthday Wish reach this exciting milestone!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!
wow… keren.
Happy Bday… :D
I’ve also found Facebook Causes Birthday Wishes to be very effective in fundraising for the Myelin Repair Foundation.
One annoyance is that the Causes application really hijacks your FB acct and posted TOO many status updates about my birthday fundraising drive. I was afraid that I was annoying too many friends.
I couldn’t find any way to change the settings on the Birthday Wish application. It would be nice to have an option to have the Birthday Wish change my status 1 every X days or to put a pause on status updates. Instead I had to delete the birthday wish completely.
[...] rather then get them a birthday present. This seems such a simple and obvious idea, yet ‘Birthday Wishes’ alone have apparently generated over $1m since this was first added to the Causes app just three months [...]
