$1 Million Donated to Nonprofits in America’s Giving Challenge So Far!

Posted by Susan Gordon on October 29th, 2009
Over 50,260 donations have been made to nonprofits competing in America’s Giving Challenge, bringing in over $1 million during the first three weeks of the Challenge. The leading causes in the Challenge are not large nonprofits, they don’t even have large causes, but they have been incredibly effective grassroots organizers.  From appointing campaign captains, to campus chapter heads, to community leaders, these causes have organized, delegated, and worked through their networks to climb up the Giving Challenge leaderboard.  Each of them has examples of individual supporters who have gone above-and-beyond to help their cause win the Challenge.  For example, the top fundraiser across all causes in the Challenge is Christine Falsetti, who has single-handedly gathered 170 donations for her cause Children Touched by Cancer.
There is still one week left in the Giving Challenge and any one of the 7,000 causes entered can win!  Go to http://exchange.causes.com for Tips of the Day about what techniques, best practices, and strategies will help you win the daily or overall challenges.  Remember, the first place winner will receive $50,000, the second place will receive $25,000, and the third through seventh place winners will each receive a $10,000 award.  It’s still anyone’s challenge – $1 million and counting!
