America’s Giving Challenge begins next week, October 7th! Are you Ready?
The last time we helped organize the Giving Challenge, Facebook users donated almost $600,000 through participating causes! This year, with many times the number of users and more fundraising and communication tools, we hope to see even more raised for nonprofits. Stay tuned for more details on timeline, awards, and rules as October 7th approaches, and be ready to use the following resources to make your best showing in the Challenge!
If you are interested in participating in the Giving Challenge, there are a few important things you can start working on now:
Gather together your best videos, pictures, and links so you can start your Giving Challenge campaign with a clear case for the importance of your work. Since we redesigned the Media Board about six weeks ago, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in the number of daily media views.
Draft milestone and progress reports you’ll send to your cause members: Raised $500? Hit the 100 people donated mark? Highlight the individual contributions of your super cause members when the cause as a whole reaches a goal or milestone.
Think about the kinds of clear and compelling messages you will send to your cause members. Educate them about the nonprofit you support and be specific about how the organization uses the money they donate.
Delegate responsibilities among your cause administrators now. Who will be in charge of posting announcements? Who will thank donors? Give everyone a role and consider adding more cause administrators to help out.
Schedule events and other offline actions that will support your campaign.
If you are a nonprofit, we just upgraded the Causes Nonprofit Partner Center! Use the Partner Center to build and communicate with a network of “affiliate causes,” access data on your nonprofit’s presence on Causes, run campaigns and send targeted messaging to your supporters and cause administrators.

5 Responses to Cause Administrators and Nonprofits, Are You Ready for the Giving Challenge?
We Have created the 5 Million For Change Campaign to mobilize a force of good that will sweep across the globe and create true sustainable CHANGE on every continent.
The 5 Million For Change Campaign which began as a single dream in 2002 has grown into a multitude of people all over the world united by a single belief that TOGETHER we can make a massive impact on the world.
We believe we can offer hope to anyone… We believe we can offer a helping hand to those who need it… We believe we have the choice to create the kind of world we live in… We believe we can create a tidal wave of goodness that will carry everyone to a better place. We believe each person has the power to create the life they envision.
What began as a mission to provide funding for charitable organizations all around the world has turned into a movement of vast proportions that is growing explosively.
There is so much division and separation in our world. People are separated by beliefs, by politics, by race, by religion… This separation and division are the cause of most of the problems in our world today. People can’t work together to solve problems because they are too busy focusing on how they are different. The truth is that people have many more similarities than differences.
The 5 Million For Change Campaign has reached beyond the divide and united Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, New Age, Atheist, Agnostic…We embrace Black, White, Indian, Asian, Hispanic… We welcome a vast array of political beliefs… We welcome all sexual identities. We simply welcome PEOPLE – people who believe that by combining our gifts and hearts to make a difference , we can have a massive impact on our world.
Our websites are a portal into all the divisions that comprise who we are. Now that you know our heart and goals, I hope you will explore what we offer here and find what resonates with you. Very few of us have the resources to make a big difference on our own. But our small efforts, combined with the small efforts of millions will create a tidal wave of goodness that will sweep the globe.
Thank you for joining us on our adventure!

Joining your cause frees me from killing sense of personal needlessness that comes out of the forced need to live as the dependent disable; thus my thanks double.

It baffles me that the Giving Challenge starts today, yet the official rules, procedure and prize structure have not been posted anywhere. I am picturing people behind the scenes frantically throwing documents around trying to get this thing together in time. At least, I hope that is what’s happening, because otherwise Causes is doing its members a great disservice by not providing enough information to prepare us for the actual challenge. The videos may be helpful for people who have never been involved with Causes before, but those who have are just sitting here waiting and waiting for the details about the actual challenge. I saw the press release, and it was pretty vague. If I understand it correctly, the daily prizes this year will only be $500. When can we opt into the challenge? Where are the rules posted?
