There is 1 week left in America’s Giving Challenge and new Daily and Overall Awards have just been announced from the Kellogg Foundation. Each day, the winner will now receive $1,500, the second place will receive $1,000, and the third place will receive $500. Plus, there is now another $25,000 prize and 4 more causes that will receive $10,000 overall awards for getting the most donations in 30 days. With 7 days left, what does it take to win? If the Challenge ended right now, a cause with 658 donations would win $10,000. How many people are in your cause? How many friends do those people have? How many people are on your email list? Fans of your Facebook Page? Any cause can still win with some solid grassroots organizing and a compelling, organized push. Here are a few ways you can let your cause members know what goals you have for the last week of the Giving Challenge:
- Send a bulletin that outlines your daily and overall goals
- Include resources that explain specifically how to invite friends to the cause and invite friends to donate
- Reach out to your top supporters on the cause and offline
- Throw an event the last day of the Challenge to help you make that big final push
- Get creative! What is unique about your cause or your organization? Find ways to show your supporters why what you do is valuable.
You don’t have to have a big cause, you don’t have to be a big nonprofit, but you do have to tap into the true potential of every supporter you have, and go for it!
