Grassroots organizing is all about developing relationships. What better way to do that than in person! By meeting with your supporters face-to-face, they will associate real people and real impact with your campaign. Events can take a variety of forms – you could hold an open house at your office, join together with a student group to hold a meeting on campus, encourage a board member to have a small gathering at his or her house, host an open house at your office or speak at a local place of worship after services. Be creative and strategic about your audience and location! Give a small pitch about why what you’re doing is important and then focus on how they can get involved. Bring laptops with you so they can sign up and donate to your cause right at the event! This is a great way to kick off a push to win a daily prize for the Giving Challenge or infuse new energy into your campaign to win overall.

Good idea!
We (Christmas SPIRIT Foundation) are in middle of organizaing TweetUp4Troops events around the country during the week of Veterans Day (Nov 7-14).
Goal is to create locate events that will help (1) honor Veterans; (2) generate support for our Trees for Troops program; and (3) have fun.
Right now, it appears we’re going to reach about 2,000 fewer military famiilies than last year when we provided 17,000 free, farm-grown Christmas trees to families of all branches of the military.
Lots of local possiblities on how to do a TweetUp event in your area. See http://www.TweetUp4Troops.org for details.
Please consider hosting a local event and/or sharing this information with others.
Trees for Troops does a great job in touching the lives of military families who have a loved one deployed during the holidays.
Thanks.
